The Institute of Agricultural Sciences comprises eleven Departments. The Institute functions on the pattern of Land Grant Colleges of the United States/State Agricultural University, and offers B.Sc.(Ag.), M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D. courses in all major areas of Agriculture. Admissions to all the courses are made through all India Entrance Tests. A limited number of foreign students are directly admitted to each course. The Institute has very good infrastructure for research and teaching. It has a wide range of modern equipments, a research farm of 120 acres at the main campus and a series of research farms at Barkachha, Mirzapur. The Institute has been rated high by independent survey agencies for quality research.. A number of All India Coordinated Research Projects directly funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research are running in the Departments of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Entomology and Agricultural Zoology.
